Highlights

Adventurous city trip

Are you bitten by Scottish culture or the Scottish tartan? Can't wait to explore the country and spot that Loch Ness monster? Do you have enough basic English to carry on common, easy conversations? Then our language vacation in Edinburgh is for you.

We discover idyllic spots like Calton Hill, Arthur's Seat and Dean Village. On the Royal Mile we sniff the lively atmosphere and trendy side of the city. One morning we can choose to visit Edinburgh Castle, the Zoo or the Dungeon (excluding entrance fees).

The Edinburgh Express takes us to a secret final destination. For this we have to read the map ourselves. One of the most competitive activities of the week is undoubtedly the escape room! And that's not all: one evening a local will take us to the creepiest places in the city during a Ghost Tour. Edinburgh is the city where many Scottish legends saw the light of day! The absolute highlight of the week is of course the trip to the Scottish Highlands where we discover the rough nature and visit Stirling Castle.

A hostel in the city center

We are staying at St. Christopher's Edinburgh Old Town, a recent hostel in Edinburgh's Old Town. We sleep like real backpackers in rooms of 4 to 8. The beds are each equipped with their own reading light, electrical outlet and privacy curtain. For activities, we gather in the common areas of our hostel or head into town. The lodge is also located within walking distance of all major attractions.

Delicious dining out

We stay at half-board. In the morning there is a continental breakfast with occasional extras: fruit, eggs, bacon, ...

In the afternoon we picnic with a sandwich, wrap, salad or piece of pizza (not included in the price).

In the evening we go to a restaurant or enjoy a take away: sometimes we choose a trendy Asian, other times we dine in a cozy Italian restaurant or feast on the local fish 'n chips.

Language animation and perfection

With CLIP, you don't go on a language trip to sit in a classroom all the time. The city provides the ideal setting for the language workshops. When the weather is nice, the many parks - such as Calton Hill and The Meadows - are an ideal location. In addition, we often take to the streets to make contacts with locals. Everywhere the warm-hearted Scots are immediately willing to help and have a chat.

We assume that each participant has sufficient basic English skills to participate in common conversations.
Every 45 minutes you will work with another leader in an active way on drama, English music, street interviews, debates, vocabulary games, video, common mistakes....

Consequently, the names of the language workshops do not lie: Scattergories, Black Stories, CLIP under hypnosis....

Variety and exercise are ingrained in this formula. The organization's trademark, therefore, is: LEARNING BECOMES A PLEASURE.

For the language perfection formula, the bar is raised. In a playful way, the monitor regularly corrects language mistakes and encourages participants to take their English to the next level.

Language camp with language immersion in English

With super fun teambuilding activities, we overcome initial barriers to speaking English. The positive comments with rewards at the end of the week - for both the group and the individual participant - are an extra incentive.

If this still proves to be insufficient, in other words if a participant continues to speak Dutch, the parents are called briefly to encourage son/daughter. This is done in a respectful manner and does not miss its effect.

Each language internship is also scheduled with numerous extras that can be earned by making a real effort in English. If this is not the case, an activity can exceptionally be dropped for the participant in question. The young people themselves confirm that this is a method that works.

Language camp with varied entertainment

We explore the Edinburgh area with an adventurous walk to Arthur's Seat where we enjoy a beautiful view of the city.

In the evening, we test our movie knowledge in a movie quiz and unravel the mystery at a real-life cluedo. During a city search, we will follow in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes and solve a disappearance. The thread of the week is the many well-known Scottish legends full of mythical characters.

The many parks invite us to engage in hip and trendy sports from time to time.

City exploration

We explore the city in an active way . One morning we can choose to visit Edinburgh Castle, visit the Zoo or the Dungeon (not included in the price).

We discover idyllic spots such as Calton Hill, Arthur's Seat and Dean Village, then on the Royal Mile and on Victoria Street we soak up the trendy atmosphere of this Scottish city. The Edinburgh Express will take us to a secret final destination. For this we have to read the map ourselves, get into the tourist office and look up the train or bus hours. Through well-guided activities, this is how you take your first steps as an independent globetrotter. Bet this will provide a boost of group spirit!

The highlight of the week is the escape room. By solving riddles and puzzles, we try to escape from different themed rooms like real Houdinis.

One evening, a local takes us through the creepiest spots in town for a ghost tour . His stories make us all shudder.

Another day we take a trip to the Scottish Highlands. We will stop at the famous plains of Glen Coe, where the series Outlander was filmed, and visit Stirling Castle, where we will feel like a Scottish Lord for a moment. Those who wish can also visit the castle (excluded).
