Highlights

English language holidays at the seaside

Oostduinkerke is the ideal place for an English language initiation. Speaking Dutch is allowed, but the youngsters are encouraged to use the English words learned as much as possible.

Besides a dose of language and entertainment activities on the beach, we will swim in a subtropical swimming pool and head to Nieuwpoort. Here we try to be the fastest during a city game and challenge each other during a gocart race. Another day, we live it up during an interactive search for Ostend street art. As icing on the cake we plan a day at Bellewaerde where we challenge the visitors to speak English with us ánd we have fun on the many rollercoasters. Wonderful, right!?

Near the dunes, close to the sea

De Sloep in Oostduinkerke is our basecamp. We stay there in full board, close to the sea, the dunes nearby. The rooms are convenient, with a maximum occupancy of 11 people. We start the day with a breakfast buffet and in the afternoon we have a picnic, a sandwich or a hot snack.  The evening a delicious three-course meal awaits us.  Pasta, meat rolls in tomato sauce, chicken ragout ... All quite exquisite, isn't it?

Language initiation English with Dutch as spoken language

The sea is the place to be for beginners. The language initiation formula is a playful introduction to the English language.

The monitors encourage participants to speak as much English as possible with positive comments and incentives. Every day you can earn "CLIPPERTJES." Gifts and funny quid pro quos from the leaders reward effort.

Speaking Dutch is allowed to lower the threshold, except when talking about basic vocabulary that participants already know. Throughout the week, the bar is slowly raised. For example, on day one, a monitor will pass the bottle of water to the table when a participant asks in Dutch. Later, however, the young person is expected to ask if he can have the "bottle of water."

The language approach is practical and visual. There is a placemat on the table with specific vocabulary that can be used at the table. The daily program is posted in English with cute drawings.

Each language activity gets the youngsters moving to the maximum. For example, we do a chair dance where you have to sit down as fast as you can when you hear a specific word.

Every 45 minutes we work on a different theme. Variation rules! In the afternoon, vocabulary acquired in the morning is rehearsed in a playful way during the entertainment activities.

Starting this year, we are also organizing a non-residential summer camp in Oostduinkerke. Ideal for those who live close to the sea and want to attend a language camp during the day. You follow the schedule of the residential summer camp, but just go home in the evening. Click here for more information about our non-residential formula.

English spoken trips to Bellewaerde and Ostend

One of the highlights of the week is the day at Bellewaerde. Here we enjoy the many rollercoasters and attractions the park has to offer. But we wouldn't be CLIP, if we would leave a stone unturned to speak English or to encourage others to speak a foreign language. So for instance we try to convince as many amusement park visitors as possible to pronounce the phrase "She sells sea shells by the sea shore." Hilarity assured.

If you drop the word coast, by definition you imply Ostend. We spend a whole afternoon walking through this famous coastal town in search of street art. Pure fun at the seaside!

Diverse entertainment activities on the beach and in the dunes

On the beach we play a game of beach volleyball, build sandcastles and brave the waves with our beach boards. We take a team-building trip in the dunes, do an interactive city game in the theme of Harry Potter and play sports in the garden or on the beach.

In the evening, we creep, dance and laugh at the residence center during a Fantasy night, CLIP's got talent or a casino.

One afternoon we live it up in a subtropical swimming paradise. We splash in the wave pool, go lightning fast through the Black Hole, a slide with light and sound effects, and challenge each other in the rapids. Furthermore, we explore the coastline on our gocarts. Pure fun on the Flemish coast!
