Highlights

On safari in South Africa

In terms of groundbreaking experiences, this trip to South Africa can really count! This is the English language vacation for true globetrotters ... or young people who want a first taste of a faraway trip. Of course, this only makes sense if you already have a reasonably good level of English and are also determined to speak the language continuously.

We do field education of vulnerable children together with Hope Flanders vzw. Every day we enjoy real South African cuisine. Think Bobotie and Chicken à la King. The icing on the cake is the excursion along the Panorama Route and a three-day safari in the Kruger National Park. Will you spot "the big five?

Staying in a lodge

Our main residence is the Moyeni Lodge, located in the middle of nature on a hilltop of a large farm in Witrivier. We receive a very warm welcome here in three languages: Siswati, Afrikaans and English.

We share the beautiful rooms with 4 to 8 people. We cool off in the pool. In the garden you can taste avocado, papaya or cassava. The potable tap water comes directly from the spring.
On some excursions we sleep in local types of lodging. During our three-day safari, for example, we stay in tents in a comfortable and cozy resting place in the Kruger Park. For this you need to bring a sleeping bag.

Feasting in Africa

The formula is full board. It's safe to say that we are really spoiled and the African environment makes everything taste even better. Out of respect for the culture, vegetarians or special diets cannot be taken into account (unless for medical reasons).

In the morning we start the day with a hearty continental breakfast with bread and toppings (cheese, homemade jams and peanut butter), yogurt, cereals, coffee, rooibos tea and fresh fruit juice. Occasional extras such as an exotic fruit salad or English Breakfast are provided. In the Kruger Park, we brunch in the wild with a view of a herd of elephants: bacon and eggs is not to be missed here.

In the afternoon, we once eat a simple meal with the locals (rice in banana leaves, pasta, chicken). We'll use our hands for this meal. On outings we picnic with croque-monsieurs, hot dogs, cookies and muffins.

In the evening, a delicious South African meal awaits us. Occasionally we eat around the campfire. On safari, the cook travels with us.
Typical dishes like South African barbecue (braai), bobotie and chicken à la king are of course not to be missed. After a fun day at the project, we learn to prepare "potjiekos" on an open fire. We finish the meal with an ice cream, a piece of cake or marshmallows over the BBQ.

Language perfection in English on language holiday

With CLIP, you go on a world tour to really put the language into practice. This principle certainly applies to South Africa. Learning English here really happens on the road. The facilitator is a "traveling teacher" who regularly pulls a fun language activity out of his backpack. This boosts the group atmosphere. How about a "De Slimste Mens" about South Africa or a "Drie Wijzen" during the bus ride?

On safari, you will learn words like "tusks" or "leopard" , and around the campfire, a Time's Up is guaranteed to provide plenty of atmosphere.

And there's more, we leave no stone unturned to establish contact with local people and hold discussions. Each of the conversation session ends with a correction of the most common mistakes. In this way, we join the the useful to the appealing.

Of course, such a trip only makes sense if you are also determined to speak English continuously.

Safely explore the world at language camp

Groundbreaking experiences, that's what CLIP stands for. The formula in South Africa scores very high in this respect.
A solid and credible social project, top tourist attractions, lots of local contacts, a small group ... and all this in a language bath formula.

Of course, such a trip must be well framed. That is why CLIP works together with a Flemish organization that knows the country and local customs through and through: Hope Flanders. The person in charge is also present on site throughout the trip. Her knowledge, combined with the CLIP guide ... a wonderful synergy.

Good health is a basic requirement for this intense journey.

Hope Flanders does field education of orphans. The organization works with local schools and sports clubs to do this. We not only go to take a look but also roll up our sleeves ourselves. In the past, we made our own clay bricks and cement and laid a floor in concrete. Not evident without running water or concrete mixer.
The children of the project regularly regaled us with dance and music. Of course, they teach us some typical dances and songs. Goosebumps guaranteed! We ourselves organize some sports and game activities for them. The contacts between the Belgian and South African youth are very intense, the look in the children's eyes are significant. The group atmosphere, our vibrant presence, the happy faces on that day are definitely unforgettable and worth it!

During the trip itself, through info sessions, we also regularly dwell on the local culture and history of the country. We are taught Siswati and learn how to give someone a handshake in South Africa.

We conclude this intense journey at the Moyeni Lodge for an authentic "Chakalaka" evening with the youth of Hope and a traditional "Sibaca" dance show.

On Safari

Our first day trip after the social project takes us to the Panorama Route, one of the most beautiful routes in the world with high waterfalls like Mac Mac Falls, stunning vistas at God's Window, the Bourke's Luck Potholes, Hoedspruit, and the mighty Blyde River Canyon. The natural beauty is overwhelming.

The next day Hope's children accompany us to Sabie. From here we walk through the fields to Forest Falls and MacMac Pools. Here we relax and have fun in the natural pools.

The next 3 days we set off on an adventurous safari in 4×4 jeeps in the Kruger National Park, a game park with the greatest variety of animals and plants in Africa. Each time we are up early for a morning safari with sunrise. Once we do a "night safari" with spotlights. Each time the guide knows how to surprise us with fun facts. In the evening we chat around the campfire. Believe it or not but in such a game park this has something special. In the background you can hear monkeys and the occasional hyena.
